Aim of the course
To provide an intensive taster session in simple, essential surgical procedures.
This course offers junior clinical fellows applying for ST1 and senior medical students keen on surgery the opportunity to practise crucial surgical techniques that will benefit them throughout their careers.
Day to include:
- Surgical gowning and gloving
- Suturing techniques
- Surgical knots
- Bronchoscopy techniques
- Thoracocentesis / Pleural aspiration
- Chest drain insertion and removal
- VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) basic skills
- Vessel anastomosis
